I should like to tell of a healing I had....

I should like to tell of a healing I had. I was in an automobile accident two summers ago with two of my friends. We were going along a main street, and some girls drove through a stop sign and hit our car broadside. One of my friends and I were thrown out.

When I first entered a Christian Science Sunday School, one of the things I learned was (I John 4:8), "God is love." Another lesson I never forgot is that there are no accidents in divine Mind. I declared these truths persistently. By that time an ambulance had arrived. A policeman, seeing that I was injured, told me to get into the ambulance and go to a hospital. I refused and told him I was a Christian Scientist and wished to depend on prayer. He helped my friend into the ambulance and told another policeman what the situation was. The latter was more understanding and told me I should go to the hospital if for no other reason than for insurance purposes, so I did go. But when I arrived, I refused all medical treatment.

One of the doctors told me I would have to have my leg X-rayed for the insurance company. I consented. By the time I got to the X-ray room the pain seemed almost unbearable, so I started saying the Lord's Prayer. Gradually the pain lessened. While getting the X-ray picture, I thought my parents would be proud and grateful for my standing up to error and depending on Christian Science healing, but then I remembered my parents were on a trip, would not be home for three days, and I would be all alone in the house. For awhile this thought frightened me, but I turned to God and tried to realize that God was my real Father-Mother.
