Our family has felt the beneficial effects of Christian Science in every way. The study and practice of this Science brightens each day with joy, expectancy of good, and freedom.

When our son was quite small, he had a condition diagnosed by a dentist as an abscessed tooth. The dentist's recommendation of medical treatment, culminating in removal of the tooth, was lovingly refused, and Christian Science treatment was sought from a practitioner. There was gradual improvement, for which we were grateful; but I did not feel my fear had been healed. A year or so later the condition reappeared most aggressively.

Again I called a Christian Science practitioner, who began at once to reassure me about the boy's safety. She told me that divine Love is always present. She directed me to further study of the Lesson-Sermon found in the Christian Science Quarterly. Included was the following citation: "Evil is a negation, because it is the absence of truth. It is nothing, because it is the absence of something. It is unreal, because it presupposes the absence of God, the omnipotent and omnipresent" (Science and Health, p. 186). As I read this, I glimpsed the all-power of God, which can never be negated by a supposition of an opposite to His allness. Fear left me.
