Nowadays any number of motion pictures and novels deal with adultery. So it is safe to say that the Seventh Commandment, "You shall not commit adultery" [Rev. Stand. Ver.], deals with an area of trouble in both the modern and the ancient world. . . .
The Seventh Commandment formed part of a decalogue that was to serve as the basis for unity of 12 hitherto poorly united tribes who were facing dire days. By the acceptance of the Seventh Commandment the Hebrews hoped to achieve certain goals.
