There was no Church of Christ, Scientist, in the little village where my husband and I lived for forty years, so the Christian Science periodicals were very welcome. We were earnest students and depended entirely on Christian Science for healing. I do not have words to express my gratitude for the degree of faith and understanding I have gained from my study of the Bible together with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
I had grown up with the misconception that the devil was a superintelligent personality who for the present was powerful and who was "the prince of the power of the air" (Eph. 2:2). How grateful I was to learn that God has all power in heaven and in earth! In Hymn No. 134 in the Christian Science Hymnal are these lines:
