After I experienced an instantaneous healing of a pelvic injury a short time before the birth of our third child, the understanding of Christian Science became so clear to me that I eagerly drank in truths contained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that before had seemed obscure. This healing resulted from merely talking with a new neighbor, who I later discovered was a Christian Science practitioner. This same neighbor provided wonderful protective work during and after the birth of this child.

About two years later, during the night, I suffered a severe attack of sickness which was immediately relieved by the prayer of a friend, an earnest student of Christian Science. Through the help of another devoted Christian Science practitioner daily progress was made out of slowness of speech and bodily movement. God's loving presence was so close during this experience that my desire to keep the knowledge of the illness from my family, who would not have understood my reliance on Christian Science, was fulfilled. In every activity in our household of three children and pets, and even through a previously planned visit of relatives, God's guidance and protection were constantly evident. His provision included a dear person's relieving me of household chores for a few days, allowing me time for rest in study.
