For God and for Mrs. Eddy, I am profoundly grateful

For God and for Mrs. Eddy, I am profoundly grateful. Christian Science has blessed my family for four generations. When I was left to rear a young daughter alone, the Christian Science Sunday School and faithful practitioners were a constant source of strength and inspiration to us both. Class instruction and association meetings have proved to be a tower of strength. A few years ago I married again, and I am so grateful that my husband has become interested in Christian Science and is an earnest student.

In 1962, when we were living in Italy, I had a severe attack of chills, fever, and dysentery. A practitioner was called on for help, and a study of the truths of man found in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was an aid in overcoming self-condemnation, resentment, and self-pity. I started being grateful for God's ever-present love and endeavored to see myself as a spiritual idea instead of a sick mortal. The practitioner spent many hours with me declaring the truths of Christian Science, and I am grateful for her firm support.

Finally, realizing that my illness was causing my husband great concern and interrupting his work, I decided to return to New York, despite my serious physical condition and the further fact that jaundice had developed and I had lost much weight. Flight arrangements were made, and the trip was harmonious. The practitioner's faithful work sustained me.
