Is Affluence Harmful?
Here is a question widely debated in our generation, some people even asserting that affluence is at the root of the present religious crisis in the United States. Material affluence is said to produce apathy toward basic questions of religion. Matter becomes more attractive to people than Spirit, God.
Christian Science shows that affluence is never harmful if it is based upon the demonstration of divine law. This kind of affluence is a far cry from that which is gained through the mere accumulation of wealth with no relation to spiritual liberation from lack. In real being supply reflects the infinity of God, its source.
Overcoming limitation through the power of Christ, Truth, is the result of spiritualizing one's concept of supply, whereas making fortunes through the gross love of matter is the effect of sheer materialism that attracts what it adores.
