One Soul

Much of the objection to timeworn religious concepts appears today to be directed toward the restrictions these concepts impose upon individuals. People want to be free to try out new ways of thinking and living. They want to express themselves without being told that what they are doing is improper. They want a scientific basis for their actions, and they feel they have a right to seek such a basis without being subjected to judgment by those who think from the basis of mere tradition.

Christian Science brings to those who are seeking Truth in this age a radically new concept of Soul. In this concept the restrictive sense of scholastic theology is replaced by a free sense which is demonstrable. Christian Science reveals Soul as one. In this concept individuals do not have souls separate from God. Each is a reflection of the one Soul and expresses in an individual way the qualities of the infinite One. This infinite One is God.

In the universe of Soul, each individual is original. As we come to understand Soul, we gain spiritual sense, through which we express the originality of our true being. In this spiritual sense of ourselves we find talents we did not know we had and find ways to rise above the opinions others may have of us or that we have of ourselves. Perhaps most important of all, we find that as we express the brightness of our true, original selfhood, our expressions in no way conflict with others. The brightness of one individual's demonstration of his spiritual identity throws light on all. God-given talents expressed by one reveal to others the possibilities the one Soul gives them for their own lives.
