Before my introduction to Christian Science I was in poor health and miserable. I had been under the care of various doctors for three or four years and had undergone an operation; but instead of improving, the condition only grew worse. My home was broken: our two boys were being cared for by a relative, and my husband had to shift for himself.

At this time I weighed seventy-two pounds and was losing weight daily. The doctor asked me if I had ever heard of Christian Science. He said that he had heard of many marvelous healings through its application. Well, at that time I had so much confidence in him I was willing to do whatever he advised. So I started to read the book "Retrospection and Introspection" by Mrs. Eddy. While reading, I realized that Mrs. Eddy was truly giving much to help people. I then read Science and Health, also by Mrs. Eddy, from cover to cover. By the time I first began to read it our family was together again, and I was doing all my own work.

Some of my ills had been diagnosed as tuberculosis, a goiter, and extreme nervousness. Up to this time I had been taking a bottle of sedative a week. All these ailments were healed through my reading of Science and Health. This took place in 1937. I have come a long way since that time and have experienced many healings for my family and myself. Child welfare work required by law that I pass yearly X-ray examinations. These examinations were passed without question.
