I was introduced to Christian Science in my early teens when my mother and father began its study to gain a healing of a neurasthenic condition from which my mother was suffering. The first time I went to church I was impressed by the quotation on the wall behind the First Reader s desk, "God is love" (I John 4:16). This idea of God was the antithesis of my concept of the "jealous God'' (Ex. 20:5) I had been taught to worship. As I heard my parents discuss their newfound religion and saw my mother healed through it, I was attracted but felt unworthy to accept its high ideals. It was during World War II, while away from home, that I began to turn to Science, and I enjoyed many proofs of divine guidance and protection and experienced physical healing and the provision of housing during that time.

Upon separation from the Army, I returned to my home and began to rebuild my business. Shortly after I had gotten under way, I was invited to become a member of a well-established firm in my field of activity. The financial arrangements were such that all my requirements were taken care of. After ten years of mutually beneficial association, it became possible for me to acquire the branch office I had built up and continue the business under my own name. This beautiful unfoldment took place at a time when mortal belief held that readjustment was a severe trial to returning soldiers. Membership in a branch church and the opportunity for class instruction also were blessings that came at this time.

I have seen the efficacy of Christian Science in healings in our family ranging from those of headaches, colds, and indigestion to severe infections, skin irritations, and painful, undiagnosed bodily conditions. Since coming into Science, however, I have generally experienced excellent health for almost twenty years. On only two occasions have serious physical problems needed attention.
