Several years ago, I was being treated by a psychiatrist for alcoholism
Several years ago, I was being treated by a psychiatrist for alcoholism. This dread, lonely disease had caused untold personal disturbances, and I had seriously contemplated putting an end to my misery.
One evening, when I was in the depths of human despair, my brother came to my home and read to me from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I was instantaneously healed. The false appetite, thirst, or enslavement, was permanently destroyed during two blessed hours of truth and brotherly love.
I had been reared in a Christian Science family, but the events of World War II and several years of active duty as a military pilot had drawn me away from my religion, my family, and my standards. Coming back into Christian Science from the depths of despair and wrong living has been a chastening lesson of God's love. Words alone will never express my sincere gratitude and deep love for God, for the Christ, Truth, and for the writings and profound works of Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
