Christian Science has meant everything to me over many years. I should like to express my deep gratitude to God for the Bible, for our Master, Christ Jesus, and his teachings, and for Mrs. Eddy, who gave to the world the Christian Science textbook, that all may work out their own salvation. I should also like to express gratitude for the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy which governs the entire Christian Science movement.

One day in the kitchen I severely burned my hand. It seemed impossible to think clearly, as the pain was intense. When I was able to get in touch with a Christian Science practitioner, I told her what had happened and asked if she would help me. The help was given immediately. In a few minutes the pain ceased. In the morning I telephoned the practitioner to thank her for the help and relief from pain, but asked her to continue the treatment as my hand was swollen and ugly. She reminded me of the Biblical narrative of the three Hebrew men who came out of the fiery furnace free from any trace of fire (see Dan. 3:27). I was able to use the hand in two days, and all the evidence of the burn had cleared within three weeks.

One Sunday morning on my way to church I sustained a painful internal injury in an accident. A member of the same branch church helped me, and with her support I was able to attend the service, for which I was most grateful. When I arrived home I telephoned a practitioner and asked for help, as each movement made me feel I should faint. I could not lie in bed. It was easier to sit in a chair all night. The practitioner continued to give me treatment, and after six weeks I was free of pain. Two or three weeks later all trace of any accident had disappeared.
