Overhearing a remark that Christian Science had very elevating...
Overhearing a remark that Christian Science had very elevating literature, I made a mental note of it and seized the first opportunity to read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
Daily study of this Science has brought many proofs of healing. The outstanding healing took place in the early 1930's. We had been living in a small southern town for about a year when my youngest son became ill. His grandmother, who was not a Scientist, was very fearful and implored me to call a doctor. To quiet her fear, I agreed to have a diagnosis.
The doctor, who knew I was a Christian Scientist, diagnosed the illness as typhoid fever. He made this one call only; and as he was leaving, I paid him his fee and thanked him for coming. He left medicine, which was untouched; instead, a Christian Science practitioner, living in a nearby city, was engaged.
