The Scientific Denial of Error
Before a healing can take place in Christian Science, the perfection of true being must be established in consciousness, at least to a degree. But in order to do this, it is usually necessary that one deny evil, or error, and affirm divine Truth.
A spontaneous realization of the presence of the goodness and allness of divine Love will sometimes do the work. In "Rudimental Divine Science" Mrs. Eddy declares, "The spiritual power of a scientific, right thought, without a direct effort, an audible or even a mental argument, has often times healed inveterate diseases." Rud., p. 9; Many students of Christian Science can testify to the practicality of this statement. Children demonstrate this naturally and frequently in their own experiences of healing.
However, the denial of error and the affirmation of Truth constitute the general technique of Christian Science treatment and will continue to be needed in healing work until individuals gain more of the exalted spiritual understanding possessed by Christ Jesus, whose healing work was for the most part instantaneous.
