What Is Spirituality?

[Of special interest to young men and women]

"What is spirituality?" The young man or woman who lives in this age of technical and scientific, achievement and who foresees further conquest of material problems through human skill may feel disinclined to pause for an answer to this question. Yet an astute person discerns that human skill sought through material developments can never entirely dispose of limitation, since limitation and matter are synonymous, because of the very nature of matter's finity and destructibility.

And the Bible plainly shows that Christ Jesus spontaneously solved a wider range of human problems, through spiritual means only, than is achieved by today's material researches. He fed and healed thousands, stilled storms, arrived immediately at a desired location, and overcame death.

Further, the Master stated, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."  John 14:12; The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, reveals Jesus' method. Therein Mrs. Eddy writes of him, "His spirituality separated him from sensuousness, and caused the selfish materialist to hate him; but it was this spirituality which enabled Jesus to heal the sick, cast out evil, and raise the dead."  Science and Health, p. 51;
