My parents were somewhat familiar with Christian Science. Then when my eight-year-old brother was very ill with an intestinal malformation and his condition had been given up as hopeless they turned to Science for help. My mother telephoned a Christian Science practitioner, who gave her two passages to read and ponder. One was the Bible verse (Isa. 41:10), "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." The second was the ninety-first Psalm.

My brother's condition was such that he could not eat any food. He was so weak he had to be carried downstairs, where he lay on a couch in the living room. My mother became so engrossed in prayerful study of the Bible verses that she was oblivious of her surroundings until my brother raised himself up and asked for something to eat. My mother became panicky and ran to the telephone and called the practitioner. He said: "Your son is healed. Give him anything he wants." From that time on my brother began to eat, and he became healthy in every way.

During the following years many healings were accomplished in our family through the application of the teachings of Christian Science. My Sunday School experience from the age of three to twenty has been a great blessing to me. The divine guidance that has been mine would to some seem miraculous. This unfoldment is still going on, and I am continually being blessed by the truths in the Bible and in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
