I am very grateful for having enjoyed the blessings of Christian Science all my life.

When I was a senior in college, I was attacked by a railroad ticket agent on my return from a summer job at the seashore. It seemed the ticket agent had given me false information about the departure of my train. When I arrived at the station, I found there were no trains at that time. I can only recall saying twice as he attempted to choke me, "God, give me strength." I was on the point of blacking out when the man relaxed the grip of his hands on my neck and freed me.

The attacker confessed quickly after a practitioner had been called to give me prayerful support in handling the situation. Previously he had claimed I had had an epileptic fit. The doctor who was called in to examine the marks on my neck took one look at me and said, "She isn't the epileptic type." Although the doctor's description of my injuries filled a page and a half, all marks had disappeared in a couple of days. The court proceedings took place the next morning, and the attacker admitted he needed help. I was able to fly back to college that afternoon in time for registration the following morning. All expenses incurred during the two days involved, as well as damages, were paid by the railroad. And during the two days I was filled with gratitude and a deep sense of God's ever-presence and love.
