How grateful I am that a number...

How grateful I am that a number of years ago I, of my own volition, attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, with a friend! From that first visit to a Church of Christ, Scientist, I have never ceased attending one.

At that time I was having severe colds almost continuously in the winter months, including coughing and watering of the eyes so that it was difficult to work; I also had neuralgia in its severest form. Friends offered different remedies. I would try each without success. I would lose my voice and could not speak above a whisper. As I studied and learned more of God and applied Christian Science, these colds and their complications gradually left me, so that now I rarely have one.

At a time when I could only whisper I attended a Wednesday evening meeting and sat with the practitioner upon whom I usually called when I needed someone to work for me in Science. As we arose for a hymn I did not attempt to sing. But she encouraged me to try, and I found I could sing a little. After the meeting the practitioner gave me a treatment, and the healing was accomplished. I had my normal voice next morning. This took place during World War II. I am grateful to say that from that time to the present, I have never lost my voice again.
