Appointment with God
An elderly gentleman was once commended for his regular attendance at church over a period of years. He seemed amazed that anyone would be surprised that he never missed a service and replied, "It is my appointment with God."
When considered in this light, church attendance takes on a new significance. We would think twice before we broke such an appointment. We would probably prepare for it very carefully, plan just what we would contribute, and do a good deal of prayerful work to know it would go well. We would expect great things to come from it.
Every Christian Science church service merits the same sort of attention. It is an opportunity to contribute and a way in which to be blessed. The more we prepare for it, the more we gain from it, and the farther its influence reaches. It brings healing and inspiration to each one present and at the same time sends its message of truth to a needy world. It voices God's Word, which heals humanity. We should think of it in this way and joyously anticipate such an appointment.
