Each One Is Needed

One of the great problems of human experience is the feeling of not being needed. It may arise from the occasion of retirement or from the changes that come about in family life. This problem certainly applies to orphans. It may also attack young people when they are maturing and searching for their place, believing they are very much alone. Everyone must have the feeling of being needed. There is a way to meet this demand.

We learn in Christian Science that the solution of every human problem is to be found in the metaphysical truth that applies to the situation. In Isaiah this fundamental fact is set forth (43:12): "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God." Here we see how necessary man is to his Maker. God must have His expression, the Father must have His son. This broad truth applies to each individual.

God is the Father and Mother of man and the creator of all individuality. He is infinite, and His expression is infinite. God must have unlimited variety and individuality in order to express Himself completely. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 333), "The one Spirit includes all identities." No one is left out of the Father's love, and no one is unnecessary to the expression of God's completeness.
