Sometime ago I was poisoned by a tick which had entered my jaw. This caused much swelling. I became very ill and weak. Some disturbing reports at this time had been given out over the television concerning the same problem. A couple of weeks passed. My condition did not improve, and I became very discouraged. A sense almost of hopelessness seemed to take over, for a sense of weakness was very severe and had developed into a complication of symptoms. At this point I realized something must be done. I had Christian Science treatment for a while but stopped having the help, feeling I should search my thought more thoroughly.

I had been trying to get about, and one afternoon I felt I would take a little walk along the road. I had not gone many yards when two large dogs came rushing around the corner and met several other dogs, causing a terrible noise and fight. I tried to hurry out of the confusion; and when I reached home, feeling completely shaken, I made my way upstairs to rest.

I had been reading "Twelve Years with Mary Baker Eddy" by Irving C. Tomlinson, and the healings it relates had comforted and interested me very much. After resting a little while, I took the book up again and opened it to some more of the healings and pondered how those healed had gained their freedom. I prayed very earnestly to God to show me what I needed to see to break this mesmerism and see the light. Then it came to me: I could go to Him and thank Him for being God, unchanging Love, unchanging good, ever present, eternally expressing through man His allness and infinity. And I did not have to take this sick body into thought to worship God thus. A more uplifted sense and peace settled in my thought.
