Words Acceptable to God

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer." Ps. 19:14; Utilizing this statement of the Psalmist as our own prayer and then living consistently with the prayer is our means of eliminating strife and turmoil in human relations. Words acceptable to God fall from the tongue when the meditation of the heart is in accord with God's law of kindness, when thought is governed by divine Love.

Christian Science teaches that in reality God does govern all thought, for God is the only Mind. Man, the image and likeness of God, is the outcome of Mind's activity, a spiritual idea reflecting the intelligence of the one Mind. There can be no quality in the real man foreign to the loving nature of God.

Man being the spiritual man of God's creating, whence comes the rancor of an unkind tongue, a tongue the Bible refers to as a fire, a deadly poison, a sharp razor? Unkind words stem from the false belief that man is material. Such a belief seems to put one in possession of a personal mind separated from God but at one with the so-called physical senses. This misconception suggests many minds, which are capable of evil as well as good thoughts and often are at variance with one another. Thinking handled by this mesmerism causes the tongue to run rampant with harsh judgments and personal animosities. The contrast of an unbridled tongue with one controlled by divine Love is set forth in this Biblical proverb: "There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health." Prov. 12:18;
