About two years ago I was in another state opening our summer home for the season. This entailed much household work, and in the course of doing it I had an accident in the yard and injured my arm, which was left in a grotesque position. I immediately declared that man is upright, unfallen, the perfect expression of the one Mind and that there can be no accidents in this perfect Mind.

The driver of a passing car assisted me back into my house. A friend and neighbor, who is a student of Christian Science, telephoned a practitioner. The compassion and authority expressed by the practitioner sent a wave of joy over me with a sudden surge of strength, quieting all fears and the reaction from the sense of shock. The arm was covered with a sling of soft cloth, and I went to work earnestly as we are taught in Christian Science.

A citation from page 424 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection" stood out in my mind. I knew that the law of God is never accidental, nor is it subject to accidental happenings. Man's real being expresses the substance of God, Spirit, and can be molded and shaped by the will of divine Mind but never at the whim of mortal mind. It is the reflection of the one Mind which can never be other than perfect. God's powerful statement also comforted me (Isa. 14:24), "Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand."
