As a young student of Christian Science I have had many healings that have meant a great deal to me. About nine years ago while roller-skating I fell on my right hand, and a bone in one of the fingers was broken. This happened several days before I was to enter the fourth grade. I immediately became afraid that I would not be able to write during the beginning of the coming school year. At this time I turned to my parents for help in Christian Science and guidance in the proper human footsteps.

I asked my parents what I should do about having the bone set. At that time I had quite a fear of doctors, not knowing any better and never having been to one. I also had a fear of the finger not healing correctly. Since I did not know what to do, I asked my parents and said I would do what they thought best. My parents said this decision was for me to make, that whatever I thought was my own highest demonstration at the time they would support me in. I then became confused and upset and had a constant headache and upset stomach.

Later, in talking to my father, who was working prayerfully for me, I came to see that this was a time for me to decide how I would accept the challenge to go forward to use the knowledge of Christian Science I had gained at home and in Sunday School. For a day and a half I thought about this decision, turning only to God for my guidance, and studying the Bible, together with Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
