In the Bible we read (Isa. 65:24), "It shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." This promise has been fulfilled in my experience. I feel I was divinely led to Christian Science at a very troubled time in my life when I was calling out mutely for help. I did not turn to Science for physical healing. I was searching for something that would answer my questions in a logical way, a way I could understand and believe.

My parents had a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in their home. Soon after my father, who had obtained and read the book when I was a young child, had passed on, I asked my mother if I might have the book, and she gave it to me. At first I read each night just before retiring. In the beginning I could not understand much of what I read, but I liked the thoughts I could comprehend. As I continued to read and ponder the book, I began to understand it. I read Science and Health through three times before I attended a service in a Church of Christ, Scientist.

While reading, I was healed of constipation that had plagued me since childhood. I was also healed of smoking and social drinking just by reading the textbook. My whole disposition was changed; I sincerely desired to be a better person, and a deep longing awakened in me to learn more of God and to serve Him in any way I could. I joined The Mother Church and a branch church and a way opened for me to have class instruction. Since then I have served the branch church in many different offices. It has been a joyous privilege to serve the Cause in any way I could.
