"The consciousness of God as Love"

It is essential for all of us to manifest the Love that is God. Christ Jesus healed through Love—unfailing, unstinted, universal, divine Love. Should it not be the aim and goal of every student of Christian Science to heal in the same manner?

In her Message to The Mother Church for 1902 Mrs. Eddy says: "Spiritual love makes man conscious that God is his Father, and the consciousness of God as Love gives man power with untold furtherance. Then God becomes to him the All-presence—quenching sin; the All-power—giving life, health, holiness; the All-science—all law and gospel." '02., pp. 8, 9; It should not be an arduous or impossible task to love our fellowmen, "for God is love," I John 4:8: and man is Love's perfect reflection. Therefore as we acknowledge the truth of God and man, we find an unlimited supply of love at our disposal. All we have to do is to reach out and consciously accept divine Love as God and then express Love unsparingly to all with whom we come in contact.

When thought is stayed on God, the tendency to sin cannot enter consciousness. However, if in an unguarded moment an element of sin or a liability to sin should gain a foothold, the would-be sinner is reformed and healed when the light of God's pure love is sought and brought to bear upon the situation.
