The proof or the authority for the reality and the existence of God is an inward conviction that is born out of studying all the facts available and of living and testing such convictions in life....Our job is to be able to give valid reasons and the testimony of experience for the faith that is in us. None of us want to use the word "God" as a cliche or as a nickname for platitudes or for superstition.

We must recognize that this is a time of religious ferment,... and we cannot pull the rug of resignation over our heads and hope that the ferment will go away. Rather we should recognize that it has always been out of such periods of ferment that new life, new insights and new power have come to the Christian Church....
