MARTHA OR MARY
Luke 10:38-42
It seemed there was a Martha life
Awaiting me each morn.
Plodding, encumbering, toilsome
Hours—weary, bleak, forlorn.
A yearning for the Mary joy
Brought bright awakening
In searching, seeking, finding,
And with Christ companioning.
The Mary and the Martha
Were found reconciled in one
Through joyous prayer, while busy hands
Saw the day's work done.
For that called time to meet with Christ
No longer need I ask.
For now I have the Mary thought
For every Martha task.
