Stability in Marriage
Almost all current discussions of marriage deal prominently with sex. And so it would be appropriate for us to arrive at a rational view of sex and its relation to the marriage state. The problem concerning this phase of human experience is one of overemphasis and lack of spiritual perspective. If we can learn to subordinate the human to the divine, then we shall be well on the road to demonstrating happiness and spiritual progress.
At our present stage of progress in demonstrating Christian Science, we are largely engaged in overcoming the abnormalities of human experience. Better health, sounder morals, unselfish motives, and integrity in the marriage relationship all illustrate the progressive unfoldment of the control of divine Principle. The moral state precedes the spiritual and is an indispensable step on the road to spiritual dominion.
A harmonious marriage does not just happen. It must be demonstrated from a spiritual basis. There has been great emphasis on material analysis and physiological investigation. But by all the statistics that are available on marriage, this trend has not produced harmony.
