RADIO PROGRAM No. 180 - Helping Students Measure Up

ANNOUNCER: Doing well in school means much to parents and pupils alike, and many students are concerned about how they're going to measure up.

QUESTIONER: Everywhere educational standards are rising. Students seem to me to be under greater pressure than ever before, and the parents are reflecting this pressure. As a matter of fact, Dr. Louise Bates Ames was quoted in an article, "Two Cheers for Conformity," by P. L. Levin, in The New York Times Magazine as saying: "Every parent wants everything. This means he wants a child who is handsome, strong, athletic, intelligent, happy, well-adjusted and the possessor of a thousand friends. Unfortunately." she adds, "this is not usually the case."
