WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST

[The words in this issue are related to the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly designated to be read in Christian Science churches on September 19, 1965.]

Divider (Luke 12:14)

The Greek word is meristes, which, although it strictly means "divider," was used in various other senses, such as "umpire" or "arbitrator." as well as "partitioner, distributor." Phillips suggests, "Who appointed me a judge or arbitrator in your affairs?"

And I will say to my soul. Soul,
Thou hast much goods laid
Up for many years
(Luke 12:19)
