A few years ago a lump appeared. . .
A few years ago a lump appeared in my breast, and at the same time my arm became painful and difficult to use. Christian Science had on many occasions dispelled the aggressive mental suggestions made by mortal mind, and it was to Science that I again turned for healing. The help of a practitioner was sought and given at intervals over a long period of time, but the day did dawn when I could say that the lump had disappeared and that the arm was free from pain, I am happy to say that during this time the difficulty was never commented on by anyone outside my immediate family.
I learned that the motherhood of God is forever perfect and cannot become distorted and that, as Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 264), "Spirit and its formations are the only realities of being." She also writes (ibid., p. 421): "Insist vehemently on the great fact which covers the whole ground, that God, Spirit, is all, and that there is none beside Him. There is no disease." All that was and is going on is the constructive unfoldment of Life, Truth, and Love.
Discouragement tried to take over my thinking at times; but always a testimony of persistence or an article from one of our periodicals or a citation from the Lesson-Sermon, outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, would give the needed impetus to persevere in my search for a better understanding of man's innermost purity as a child of God.
