Spiritual Fitness
Today emphasis is being placed on physical fitness. Rigorous physical exercise is prescribed as a means of gaining strength and capabilities. While these requirements may seem to be necessary humanly, overemphasis on the physical could lead to a failure to appreciate and cultivate those spiritually vital qualities which constitute the true measure of manhood.
There is one who served mankind better than has any individual who ever trod the earth. Christ Jesus left behind a history of service unequaled by other men. He met the continuous demands upon him through his understanding of his oneness, or unity, with God.
With little thought for food and rest, he was ever ready to respond with great love to those who came to him for healing. We have no evidence in the Bible that Jesus lacked strength to walk many miles in order to be where he felt that he was needed to teach and heal. His program was one of spiritual fitness that healed the ills of mankind, and, what is more, it redeemed the sinning and raised the dead.
