Through the loving efforts of my grandmother, I was enrolled at an early age in a Christian Science Sunday School, which I attended until I was twenty. The protective influence of its teachings has been felt over the years. However, since my parents were not students of Christian Science, I experienced the greatest growth in spiritual understanding after joining The Mother Church and a branch church.

Praying sincerely, "Not my will, but thine, be done" (Luke 22:42), enabled our family to make a harmonious adjustment in moving from our home city to another one. Our house was sold promptly, another even more comfortable was purchased, and kind friends and neighbors have added considerably to our happiness.

Several years ago, after I had been knocked down by a car, several neighbors assisted me into our home. After thanking them, I asked to be left alone to do prayerful work as we are taught in Christian Science. But they stayed to prepare dinner; and after they had informed me of a general concern in the neighborhood about me, I called a practitioner. She freed me from fear.
