"Seek, and ye shall find; knock...

"Seek , and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh rcceiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened" (Matt. 7:7, 8). The deep truth in these words of Christ Jesus has become a lasting experience in my daily life. About two years ago I experienced a very quick healing, which gave me proof of his words, and I should like to tell of it because I am very grateful for it.

One evening some members of my family were sitting together. I was ironing, and my husband was reading to us from a book that explained the phenomena of energy. The subject held my entire attention, and I was so absorbed in thinking about it that the iron slipped from my hand and fell. Immediately I stretched out my hand to catch it; consequently it landed with full force, the hot side remaining for an instant on my hand.

It was set to the highest degree of heat; and the flesh on my hand was so severely burned that the print of the iron appeared to be stamped on my hand, and the pain was severe. I knew at once, however, that I was only reaping the fruit of becoming so absorbed in the material view of warmth and energy. As Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 114), "Science shows that what is termed matter is but the subjective state of what is termed by the author mortal mind."
