Activities for the Armed Services
"Wasn't that wonderful!" exclaimed a veteran when he finished describing his first healing to a Christian Science Minister for the Armed Services. While at a Veterans' Administration Hospital he had contracted a pulmonary disease of a serious nature. Because X rays showed a spot on his lung, the doctors became concerned and transferred him to a single room.
In the night he was awakened by a severe chill but was too weak to reach the cord and summon a nurse to get a blanket. In his extremity he decided to pray to the best of his ability in Christian Science. He got immediate relief, fell into a restful sleep, and awakened in the morning feeling well. Later that day when doctors X-raved him, they found no spot. To have had such a remarkable healing when he had studied Christian Science for so short a time gave him cause for awe and gratitude.
Before going to the hospital, this veteran was not interested in Christian Science but became interested through observing the healing, by Science alone, of another patient. The other veteran answered his questions and gave him Christian Science literature. At the time of his healing he was devotedly studying Christian Science and was receiving treatment from a Christian Science Minister.
