About two years ago, I noticed...
About two years ago, I noticed that the public was being confronted through every form of communication with the subject of heart trouble. Each time I saw or heard one of these presentations I tried to fill my thoughts with the truth of man as God's perfect idea and to know that this disease was but mortal suggestion and that it was unreal. However, fear took hold of my thinking, and distressing physical symptoms began to appear. They became worse until, after almost two weeks, fear seemed to completely overcome me.
I then decided it was time to ask for the help of a practitioner. I was told simply to study the definition of "heart,'' given to us in the textbook by our beloved Leader. It is found on page 587 and reads thus: "Mortal feelings, motives, affections, joys, and sorrows."
I studied this and several helpful articles found in Christian Science periodicals. Then day by day I strove earnestly to express spiritual instead of mortal qualities at all times; and by the end of a week the difficulty had completely gone, and I was able to rest peacefully.
