THE AGELESS ONES

Moving among the toilers,
the roughened hands,
the bent shoulders,
the set lips,
Dancing in and out among them—
Behold, the children!

Above the groans and sighs,
the excuses,
the forebodings,
the complaints,
The clear fresh songs and laughter—
Hark, the children!

Before the thrones of the mighty,
the learned texts,
the formulae,
the theories,
Shines the enlightened innocence—
Listen, the children!
