About four years ago, I was spending a few days alone in our beach home in a remote coastal area. One evening I went outside to call our cat when a strange, huge cat lunged at me and scratched and bit my right hand with large, deep gashes. He also bit large holes in my right leg. I lost my balance, and as I fell the cat ran away.

There was excessive bleeding, and the pain was severe. When I went into the house lo change my clothing, the pain seemed more than I could bear. Immediately, I declared aloud that God's image and likeness had never been touched by bestial violence; that, as Mrs. Eddy says (Science and Health, p. 475), "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements." I knew that God not only had created me but also would sustain and protect me from any aggressive claim of mortal mind. Gradually the pain subsided, and in about a half hour it was completely gone.

Later, when I went to bed, many suggestions of dizziness, ague, weariness, and the fear of consequences tried lo enter my consciousness. But without any effort on my part, angel messages kept pouring into my thought, destroying every one of these erroneous suggestions.
