The words, "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized," stood out to me forcefully when I first accepted Christian Science. They are found on page 167 of Science and Health by our revered Leader. I am grateful to say that to the extent that my desire was to serve God and show forth His praise I have seen proved the potency of these words.

At one time, when I was a beginner in the understanding of Science, the iron with which I was curling my hair burned through the hair and fell in such a way that it seared my eyeball. I was unable to reach a practitioner on the telephone. The blister on the eye broke, and I asked my neighbor to take me to a practitioner. She realized I was blind in that eye and wanted to get me to a doctor, but I reaffirmed my wish to reach a practitioner.

My husband drove in at this moment, and he took me to a practitioner in a nearby town, who then prayed for me, treating me according to the teachings of Christian Science. As he voiced God's power, the pain left. I spent a restful night. The great swelling went down. The next afternoon the plain cotton and tape covering the eve loosened and came away, and the light was clear all around me. It seemed as though everything was flooded with light. The healing was complete, and we attended a double feature at a movie that night. And my neighbor who had predicted blindness for me began to study Christian Science to "see how it worked," as she said. I felt then as the Psalmist must have felt when he said, "My cup runneth over" (Ps. 23:5).
