RADIO PROGRAM No. 151 - An Example for Our Children

INTERVIEWER: We live in an age when many long-accepted moral standards are being challenged. Many parents find their children questioning and perhaps even rejecting the standards they themselves have lived by. Most parents, I believe, deeply yearn to give each of their children a strong moral foundation—a set of values that will enable the child to live a good life. The question is how to do it. In the Saturday Review, Harold Taylor in an article entitled "What the Family Isn't Teaching" noted that preaching is not enough. He said, "The only moral authority to which the young now respond is that of example."

SPEAKER: I agree that parents should set an example for their children, but I also feel that the parents themselves need an example that they can pattern after; and that is why the teachings of the Bible are so valuable. They show us what this example ought to be.

INTERVIEWER: But do you think the children understand the Scriptural teachings?
