"Perfection of operation"
Christian Science is an exact Science, one which contains no error or fault in its operation because it is based on fixed Principle and spiritual rules and laws. It is a Science which every individual can comprehend and demonstrate by diligent study and application. Furthermore, steps for its application are well defined and logically ordered. This Science fulfills Jesus' promise (John 14:16), "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever."
The writer and some of his friends have noted in their research work how easily errors are made in the conduct of research in both the physical sciences and the social sciences when reliance is placed entirely on human reason. Errors in measurement, manipulation, judgment, or interpretation occur even when careful preparations have been made for exactness and accuracy. Normally these errors are not observed or noted by the public, because little or no attention is drawn to them outside a professional examination.
In the Science of Christianity, on the other hand, no error of operation is possible, because this Science is not based on human reason or judgment. Rather, it is founded on the operation of divine Mind, Principle. To utilize this Science in a specific situation, one must bring the human mind into harmony with the divine Mind in order that Principle may be permitted to function unhindered. Basically this process involves a giving up of willful, human patterning, where human reason claims all the solutions, and a humbling procedure of letting God order one's steps.
