In a time of need I turned to...

In a time of need I turned to Christian Science and found help and healing, I was not a complete stranger to the Bible, having in my youth attended church quite regularly, finding comfort and help in the services. Later, after graduating from a university, I became a member of an active undenominational religious group. I was attracted to the ideals and purpose of this group and wished to be able to live up to these ideals. I shall always love and respect the people I met through these associations and be grateful for the moral and spiritual help they gave me.

However, it was not until I returned from military service in the Second World War and turned to a Christian Science practitioner for help that I began to understand that man is not born a sinner, thereby becoming a discordant mortal, but is in reality the beloved child of God and that, through the study and application of Christian Science, I could step by step demonstrate my dominion over the false, mortal concept of man. This uplifted my thought, and as a result the indulgence in alcoholic beverages, with the resultant lack of self-respect which followed, was early overcome.

I have also had many physical healings through Christian Science. At one time I found myself unable to move because of a sudden attack of lumbago. This was healed through the work of a practitioner, and the condition has never returned. I have also been healed of influenza, sore throat, colds, and other ailments through applying the truth as taught in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.
