Many years ago my mother and I started attending a Church of Christ, Scientist. This was the beginning of a whole new way of life for me.

One of the first healings I experienced as a child was that of a severe sore throat, which I had suffered from intermittently for several years. This particular time I was to graduate from grammar school the next day. My mother called a practitioner and asked for treatment for me. By the next day I was healed and able to take part in the graduation exercises, and the difficulty did not return.

Several years later, after I was married, I manifested an internal disorder. My husband, who was not a Christian Scientist at the time, insisted I visit a doctor. I was told that an operation was necessary and that it should be performed immediately. However, I had agreed to go to the doctor for a diagnosis only, and I did not commit myself to him in any way. But I was very much disturbed and called my mother for comfort. Her first words were, "Why don't you call a practitioner?" Once again treatment was given by a practitioner, and I was completely healed.
