Of all the religious teachings, "Love thy neighbour as thyself" seems to be the one most often violated—the one most difficult to keep .... Even within the boundaries of a single country, a city or a hamlet—even within the confines of a company or a workshop—one is always aware of transgressions against this Commandment.

Is, then, this Commandment just a noble ideal, a commendable objective, a desirable attitude, but not a practical rule of human conduct pertinent to the problems of modern life?
