About two and a half years ago...
About two and a half years ago I injured my ankle and was in severe pain. The moment I gained some composure, but while still completely unable to move, I cried to God to help me. I repeated spiritual truths from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, including her declaration that "accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony" (p. 424).
I then managed to get to the telephone to call a practitioner, who instructed me to keep constantly in thought the fact that spiritual man has never fallen from perfection but is always upright. She telephoned my husband, who came home soon thereafter. He read to me from the book of Psalms in the Bible. I became somewhat calmer, realizing that here was my opportunity to prove the truths I had studied and learned as a student of Christian Science. Here was my opportunity to glorify God, to stand for Principle, and to see God's law of health and harmony in operation.
In Proverbs we read (3:5, 6): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." During the ensuing weeks I had many occasions to repeat this when doubt seemed to mount and fears to assail me.
