Pupils' Interest Awakened

"All that then Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (John 6:37). A Sunday School teacher needs to realize that our Father-Mother God brings a child into the Sunday School and that nothing can have power to block or dull the response of a pupil to the truth voiced during that hour.

A teacher writes that she was once asked to take a class composed of boys from ten to eleven years. These boys had had several teachers during the previous months, and each teacher had felt the class very difficult to handle. On her first Sunday the new teacher found the boys would not listen to the instruction. She turned silently to God to be guided in taking the right step. Suddenly she remembered the provisions for Sunday School made by Mrs. Eddy in the Manual (Art. XX), and these she briefly related to the class.

She declared that both she and the boys, as long as they were in that class, would need to prove their obedience to these provisions and that this allegiance to divine Principle would not permit class time to be disrupted with idle conversation. She thus placed the class squarely under the control of the Manual. As week by week she continued her prayerful work, the pupils became alert and responsive to the divine order. They began proving for themselves the truth of Christian Science.
