I can never thank God enough...

I can never thank God enough for the friend who first told me about Christian Science. Had it not been for this person, I might have passed away years ago. I was in very poor health and extremely nervous as a result of being a chain cigarette smoker. Thanks to this friend and a practitioner, I was completely healed, and I have never smoked since; in fact, I can be in the thick of cigarette smoke, and I am not at all fazed by the smell of it, nor do I have the least desire for a smoke.

For twenty-five years I was a very heavy smoker, and an open sore had developed in the middle of my lower lip. I also had a stiff neck constantly; my stomach always felt bloated, and my nerves were constantly on edge. I lost my appetite, and in the morning I could not retain any food, and I was fast losing weight. As a result of this I became a hypochondriac, and I was running from one doctor to another.

One day after a heavy day of smoking I was sitting in a lodge meeting when all of a sudden my heart started to pound, and then fear was upon me. I excused myself from the lodge room, went outside, tore up my pack of cigarettes, and started for home. I thought I would never make it alive. A doctor was called; and after I finally calmed down, I wanted a smoke. My condition did not improve, and the doctor suggested I be sent to a Veterans Hospital.
