The Place Where God Is
How often we long for a few moments away from the bustle of human life where we can commune silently with God! But failing to find the place or the time, we continue with our daily routine, struggling along as well as we can under the circumstances. Then because we cannot find solitude, we are tempted to blame the circumstances for our failure to gain the healing or freedom we seek.
Christian Science reveals that God is Mind and that man is God's reflection. Man, therefore, is always alone with God. This truth understood acts as law to our human experience, putting things in order where there seems to be disorder. When Science comes into our lives it endows us with ability to demonstrate the presence, everywhere and always, of divine Love. And we are given the truth with which to see that where divine Love is, every human need is met.
I learned this early in my military career. An intense training schedule allowed little time, and a crowded noisy barracks was no place for quiet study and prayer. When I found no consolation in being miserable, I asked myself where I should go to find God. The answer came in the words of the Psalmist (Ps. 139:8), "If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there."
