"As still as a sunbeam"
[Of Special Interest to Children]
Emily has a happy, singing heart. But one night she seemed very upset and unhappy. With tears in her eyes she told her mother, "Error is trying to tell me I have an earache."
Christ Jesus promised (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Then and there, Emily and her mother began to know the truth in Christian Science. They knew that the lie of life in matter cannot touch the spiritual truth of being. They knew that since she was in reality God's spiritually perfect idea, Emily was safe at that very moment in Mind, God, in whom there is no hurt. She could not possibly fall out of Mind into matter for a single moment, because God, Mind, is All. Therefore the lie and the liar, matter and mortal mind, are merely nothing!
The pain did not disappear right away; in fact, to Emily, it seemed to grow worse. She asked her mother to call a Christian Science practitioner for help. This friend spoke to Emily and calmed her with the assurance that there was nothing to fear.
